It’s Not Who I Am.

A documentary film.

It’s Not Who I Am explores the challenges women who were formerly incarcerated face in their efforts to reenter society, and how they overcome them despite having limited resources. There’s a number of documentaries about men and their reentry efforts, yet no one is telling the story of women and the issues that are specific to them. Who takes care of the children when a woman is incarcerated? How does society look at women who are supposed to be the nurturers and the anchors of our families and community but end up involved in the criminal justice system? It’s Not Who I Am takes a closer look at the devastating impact a woman’s criminal record can have on her life and introduces you to women who are fighting hard to beat the odds.
